ActiveImage Protector 2016 upgrade procedure

Before upgrading from ActiveImage Protector v3.x to ActiveImage Protector 2016

We strongly recommend you to read the Upgrade FAQ and the Release Notes before you start with the upgrade process of your licenses.

VERY IMPORTANT:

  • Installation/Upgrade is not possible without an ActiveImage Protector 2016 Product Key (Trial, Outright or MSP).
  • Check the OS compatibility link for ActiveImage Protector 2016
  • ActiveImage Protector 2016’s advanced features and future technologies require a new full disk baseline image and incremental backup chain be created after upgrading.
  • Please note: Only an ActiveImage Protector 2016 recovery environment can restore a backup image file made using ActiveImage Protector 2016. However, an ActiveImage Protector 2016 recovery environment can restore backup image files created from previous versions of ActiveImage Protector.

How to upgrade & keep your existing v3.5 backup tasks

ActiveImage Protector 2016 allows you to keep your existing v3.5 backup tasks/schedules after upgrading.

Step 1:

Uninstall ActiveImage Protector v3.5 before proceeding with the upgrade to ActiveImage Protector 2016.

IMPORTANT: During the uninstall process, make sure to retain all of your job settings when asked. Failure to do so means your jobs will not be available in version 2016.
